Climate Change, UK Climate Change

The UK will be basking in hot sun this weekend as the high temperatures expereinced over the past few days look set to spread.

Today parts of Britain were hotter than Rome, Athens, Istanbul, LA and New York, with temperatures predicted to reaching 21C (70F).

Average temperatures for this time of year are 7C (45F) in Scotland, and 12C (54F) in London.

The airstreams, which are coming from Africa, are carrying particles of sand from the Sahara desert – an event which happens about twice a year in the UK.

The glorious sunshine brought thousands of people out at lunchtime  to enjoy London’s beautiful parks which are full of gorgeous blossom and spring flowers. Took these photos in Temple Gardens just in view of the River Thames . London looks absolutely stunning at the moment!

I am not an experienced gardener - more of an enthusiastic amateur who learns by trial and error and is keen to "manage" the effects of the weather on my garden. Writing this blog is my passion and I hope that it will continue to grow, allowing global gardeners to communicate about the effects of climate change on our plants and the future of our gardens.

What part of ‘Scotland’ only has an average high of 7 Celcius for mid-April??

The Shetland Islands possibly – which is nearer to the Faroe Islands & Norway than it is to the south of Scotland!! Dumfries in the south of Scotland has an average high of 12 / 13C for Mid-April.

The London-based media always like to make their city appear so much more impressive so presumably it suited them to use the lowest figures they could find for the most northerly (by a distance) islands for a figure that is supposedly representative of ‘Scotland’ – as they like to generalise.

Oh dear – had no intention of causing an argument with you lovely Scots!
Just enjoy the lovely temperatures and remember that you know the truth.
Always look on the bright side of the weather.
