Weird Weather

2012 weather has so far continued to be as weird as it was in 2011. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/blog/2012/jan/12/weird-weather-2012

Europe and the Americas are experiencing extreme conditions, Arctic ice is almost at its lowest extent ever recorded in midwinter, disastrous droughts and searing heat have hit Africa and Latin America, and one of the world’s biggest insurance companies is warning that climate change will increase damages.

Today was glorious with wall to wall sunshine here on the South Coast . Took this photo  looking out to Seven Sisters amidst  the wonderful gorse bushes which thrive on the exposed chalky soil of the Downs.

I am not an experienced gardener - more of an enthusiastic amateur who learns by trial and error and who is keen to "manage" the effects of shifting weather patterns on my garden. Writing this blog is my passion and it has evolved over 12 years to inspire engagement with climate change outside our back doors, in our personal gardens and green spaces. My mission is to fertilise and expand this platform to grow a community of global gardeners communicating about the effects of climate change on our plants and exploring how each individual can make small changes in our lives to become more sustainable. The future of our gardens and #OurPlanet is in our hands - please plant your own seeds for our collective sustainable future.
